Rummage Route ("the app") is a map-based finder for garage, yard, estate and moving sales in US metro areas, published by Hugo Software. There are no accounts, no sign-up and no password anywhere in the app. This page explains, plainly, what leaves your device and what does not.
What stays on your device
Everything you do in Rummage Route is stored locally unless this page says otherwise. That includes: the sales you save or set reminders for, sales you add yourself through the Add Sale form (including any photo you attach), reviews you write, the city you pick, your language, and your notification preferences.
We have no account system, so this data is not tied to any identity and we hold no copy of it.
Location
Rummage Route asks for your location only when you tap the locate button. The coordinates are used on your device — to pick the nearest covered metro and to show how far each sale is from you.
Your coordinates are not sent to us, not logged and not stored. If you never tap locate, the app simply centres on the city you chose.
Camera and photos
Your camera and photo library are used for exactly one thing: the optional Price Estimate feature.
When you choose a photo and tap analyse, that photo is uploaded to our server at qiler.bnj.app, which forwards it to fal.ai, a third-party AI inference provider that routes the request to a Google vision model. The model identifies the item and returns an estimated resale price range. This is a real transfer of your photo to third parties, and we would rather state it directly than bury it.
On our server we keep the model's text answer and a fingerprint of the request for 24 hours, so that repeating the same scan does not cost a second call. The photo itself is not written to our disk for this feature. fal.ai and Google handle the image under their own terms.
Your photos are never used to train our models, never shown to other users, and never sold.
If you never use Price Estimate, no photo ever leaves your device.
Subscriptions
Price Estimate is an optional auto-renewing subscription with a 3-day free trial. Purchases are handled entirely by Google Play, which tells the app only whether a subscription is currently active.
We never see your card number, billing address or payment identifiers. You manage or cancel the subscription in your Google Play account.
Where the sale listings come from
Most sales you see are aggregated from publicly posted classified advertisements and refreshed daily. Rummage Route does not collect information about the people who posted them beyond what is already public in the advertisement itself.
Sales you add yourself stay on your device and are not published to other users.
Advertising and analytics
The Android app contains no advertising, no advertising SDK, no crash-reporting SDK and no third-party analytics. Your advertising ID is never read.
The website version at yard.bnj.app uses Umami, a cookie-free analytics tool that counts anonymous page views and does not profile individuals or follow them across sites. This does not apply to the Android app.
Notifications
Reminders for saved sales are scheduled locally by your device. There is no push server and we collect no push tokens.
Children
Rummage Route is a general-audience shopping and discovery app and is not directed at children.
Deleting your data
Because your data lives on your device, you can remove it at any time by clearing the app's data or uninstalling it. See the data removal page for the server-side cache.
Changes
We may update this policy as the app changes; the current version is always at this address.
